Prices and quotes

How much does gutter cleaning cost in Coventry?

Typical UK ranges are about £50 to £120 for a terraced house, £80 to £150 for a semi-detached and £120 to £170 for a detached house. The West Midlands average is around £121, although height, length and blockages change the price. See our gutter cleaning prices page for more detail, and we give a free fixed quote before any work starts.

How much does gutter repair cost in Coventry?

A leaking joint usually costs about £50 to £150 to fix, and a typical repair job runs about £100 to £250. The fault, the height and the access all affect the final figure, because every repair differs. Our gutter repair service starts with a free fixed quote, and the guide on repair versus replacement explains when a repair is enough.

Do you need scaffolding to clean gutters?

Often you do not, because a vacuum pole can reach many gutters from the ground. Very tall or awkward buildings may need other access, however. Price guides say scaffolding adds roughly £100 to £300 or more, and we flag any access cost in your quote before you agree.

Do you offer a guarantee on your gutter work?

Guarantee terms depend on the job, therefore we do not make a blanket promise on this page. Ask about cover when you send your quote request, and get any guarantee confirmed in writing. Our guide on how to choose a gutter cleaner lists other points to check.

Timing and frequency

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Most homes need cleaning once or twice a year, and at least once every autumn after the leaves have fallen. If trees overhang your roof, however, a second clean in spring makes sense. Our guide explains how often you should clean your gutters in more detail.

What is the best time of year to clean gutters in the UK?

Late autumn is a good time, because most nearby trees have shed their leaves by then. Coventry also sees about 39 days of air frost a year, so clear gutters matter before winter. Read preparing your gutters for winter for a simple checklist.

How long does a gutter clean take?

Price guides say a standard home takes about a couple of hours. Large houses and badly blocked gutters take longer, because there is more debris to remove. Our gutter cleaning page explains what happens on the day, and we give a realistic time in the quote.

How do I know if my gutters need cleaning?

Common signs include water spilling over the edge in rain, plants or moss growing in the gutter, and stains on the wall below. Sagging sections and dripping joints also point to a problem, because water is escaping where it should flow. Our guide to the signs your gutters need cleaning lists seven things to look for.

Doing it yourself and staying safe

Can I clean my gutters myself?

Yes, many people do, although the main risk is falling. HSE guidance says a ladder suits only low-risk, short jobs, and RoSPA reports that falls are the biggest cause of accidental injury in the home. Our guide on DIY versus professional gutter cleaning helps you weigh the risk.

How do you clean gutters on a two-storey house?

Gutters on a two-storey house sit at a height where a fall can cause serious injury. Therefore, we plan the access first and clear from the ground where we can. Provisional HSE figures show falls from height caused 31 of the 126 worker deaths in Great Britain in 2025/26, the biggest single cause.

Can gutters be cleaned without a ladder?

Often yes. A vacuum pole lets us clear many gutters from the ground, which avoids long ladder work. Some buildings still need other access, however, and we explain this when we quote. HSE guidance says tasks needing more than about 30 minutes at a time on a ladder should use other equipment.

Blocked gutters and damage

What happens if gutters are not cleaned?

Water cannot reach the downpipes, so it overflows and runs down the wall. Over time this can cause damp and stained brickwork. Because blocked gutters are a common cause of water getting in, what happens if you never clean your gutters is worth a read.

What causes blocked gutters?

Leaves, moss, silt and twigs are the usual causes. Overhanging trees make it worse, since they drop debris straight onto the roof and gutters. Debris from the roof also washes into the gutter whenever it rains. Our guide to moss and leaves in gutters explains how a blockage builds up.

Can blocked gutters cause damp inside the house?

Yes. The Property Care Association says blocked guttering and defective fall pipes are a common cause of water ingress, because overflowing water soaks into the wall. Read can blocked gutters cause damp for the warning signs, and book a clean before the wet season starts.

Can dirty gutters cause roof damage?

Blocked gutters are a common cause of water getting into a building, and that water can reach the roof edge and the wall below. Historic England says regular inspection and maintenance stop water damaging a building. A yearly check is therefore the simplest protection, and roof cleaning removes the moss that washes into gutters.

How do I tell if my downpipe is blocked?

Watch for water pouring over a gutter that looks clear, or pooling at the foot of the pipe. Damp patches on the wall near the pipe are another sign, because water is escaping from the wrong place. Our guide to blocked downpipe signs explains what to do, and our downpipe cleaning service clears the pipe.

Is gutter cleaning covered by home insurance?

Home insurance generally does not cover wear and tear or damage caused by lack of maintenance. An insurer could therefore refuse a claim for water damage from neglected gutters. Check your own policy wording, and read is gutter cleaning covered by home insurance for more.

Why are my gutters pulling away from the fascia?

Common causes include failing brackets, the weight of water and debris, and a fascia board that has weakened. A sagging gutter also stops water draining properly, because the fall to the downpipe is lost. Read why gutters pull away from the fascia, and see our guide to fascias and soffits. For the fix, ask about gutter repair.

Repair, replacement and materials

When should gutters be replaced rather than repaired?

While a repair suits a single leaking joint, a loose bracket or one short section, replacement makes more sense when problems are widespread. The same applies when the gutters are old and failing in several places. Our repair versus replacement guide explains the choice, and our gutter replacement service starts with an honest recommendation.

What types of guttering are there?

The main materials are uPVC, cast iron and aluminium. Fitted uPVC typically costs about £30 to £70 per metre, aluminium about £55 to £180 and cast iron about £50 to £130 or more. Our guide on uPVC versus cast iron guttering compares them. However, listed homes may need consent before cast iron changes.

Are gutter guards worth fitting?

Guards or mesh can cut how often gutters need clearing, but they do not stop every blockage. An expert quoted by Ideal Home says mesh stops some blockages, not all, and fine debris and moss can still clog it. You still need to check and clean the gutters, as our guide on whether gutter guards are worth it explains.

How do I stop leaves from blocking my gutters?

Trim branches that overhang the roof, and clear the gutters regularly, especially after leaf fall. Guards can help, although they do not remove the need for a clean. Our advice on how often to clean gutters gives a simple routine.

Our service and where we work

What does a professional gutter clean include?

A professional clean clears the debris from the gutter runs, checks that water flows to the downpipes and notes any damage such as cracked joints or sagging sections. Price guides say downpipes are normally part of a standard clean, although blocked ones can add time. Our guide on what a professional gutter clean includes goes through each step.

Do you clean gutters for commercial properties?

Yes. We quote each commercial building after a survey, because length, height and access vary too much for a standard price. See our commercial gutter cleaning page, and send the address through the quote form.

Do you clean conservatory gutters?

Mention conservatory or lean-to gutters in your quote request. We check access and include them in the fixed quote where we can reach them safely. Low roofs tend to be easier to reach, although conservatory roofs can break easily, so we look at each one first.

Which areas do you cover?

Because we work from Coventry, we cover a 20-mile radius around the city centre. Our town pages include gutter cleaning in Kenilworth, our Leamington Spa gutter service, gutter cleaning in Warwick and gutter cleaning in Bedworth.

We also cover our Nuneaton gutter service, gutter cleaning in Rugby and our Hinckley gutter cleaning. The areas we cover page brings every town together, while we also quote for Solihull and Tamworth.

You can read about every service on our services page. While you compare options, our advice on finding gutter cleaning near you is a good place to start.
